Bernice Rary (Rary) Stroud

   Bernice Rary Stroud, 91, of Elkin, NC, entered her heavenly home on December 6, 2020 at Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson, NC.

   Bernice was born December 2, 1929 in Cabarrus County, NC, the daughter of the late Carl Roosevelt Rary and Pauline (Disher) Rary.   In addition to her parents, Bernice is preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, William Kenneth Stroud and a sister Zana M. Wheeler.

   In life Bernice was raised in Kannapolis in Rowan County, NC.  When she was 13 she moved to Jonesville, NC where she attended and graduated from Jonesville High School.  She also worked as a secretary.  Bernice was of the Methodist faith and was a member of the Jonesville United Methodist Church. 

   Bernice is survived by a son Jerry Carl Stroud (Sarah) of Wilmington, NC, a daughter Kathy Stroud, a sister Carolyn R. Harris of Winston-Salem, a granddaughter Holly Hodge (Adam) West Lafayette, IN., and two great grandchildren Brielle, and Emma Hodge, also nieces Ria Harris of Top Sail Beach, NC and Zana Marette of Winston-Salem, NC, and nephew Brooks Mayberry of Encino, CA. Special friend Brandi Mahan. A special thank you to Betsy Cockerham for all of her care for Bernice the past several weeks.

The family would like to thank The Wake Forest Baptist Comprehensive Cancer Center, and Mountain Valley Hospice for their loving care.
