Obituary

The angels carried Robert Allan Healey (Pop) home, June 15, 2021; he was surrounded by family at home. He was born to the late James and Doris (Kilpin) Healey on August 3, 1942 in East Troy, Wisconsin. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Debra; children Sheila Healey of East Troy, WI.; Thomas Healey of Janesville, WI; Rose (Barrin) Presnell of Hamptonville, NC; Robert (Meri) Healey of Kaneohe, Hawaii; June Healey of Yadkinville, NC; Harley (Tracy) Healey of Jonesville, NC; and Isobel (Darrell) Carter of Hamptonville, NC. He was adored by his 14 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins and his second mother, Helen Gibson of Sanford, NC (his wife’s mother); he did not have in-laws. They were considered mother and father, brothers and sisters, sons, and daughters. He was called ‘Pop’ by many friends of the children who remain a part of the family; he taught one to run at record speed up the stairs, one to be quiet and another to briskly leave, all with just a glance – and he loved them all. He was a teaser, especially to his grandchildren and the nurses who would care for him. He is also survived by his brother James (Connie) Healey of Troy Center, WI.

He was raised in the farming community of East Troy, WI. He was a fixer of many things – houses, cars, and people - including the wonderful assortment of people who made life more interesting and remain life-long friends. He established his own Body Shop (Bob’s Auto) in Kenosha, WI where he repaired and painted several vintage and collectible cars; his love and knowledge for the classic cars and motorcycles were passed down to his children through the generations. He would talk about his many adventures and shenanigans, from hitch-hiking to Oregon as a youngster and the time he spent on the farms of his favorite cousins.

He was preceded in death by his brother Gerald ‘Shorty’ Healey of Eagle, WI; a brother Joe Healey of Kenosha, WI; and sisters Sharon Healey of East Troy, WI and Debbie (Donald) Roberts of East Troy, WI.

The memory of this kind and noble man will be cherished, ‘til the end of our times.
